In general, I have dealt with these populations:
- parents who don't know how to help their children with their homework
- parents who want to add to their child's curriculum by teaching them their native language or religious values at home
- parents who feel lost and overwhelmed during the summer when the daily learning routine has been disrupted
- parents who have toddlers and preschoolers at home who wish to prepare them for entering school.
- parents who are considering homeschooling their children through the elementary school years.
This first example is from a Chinese mommy-friend of mine from college whose twin daughters attended PreK this past year. As you can see from her request, she was invited to the school to give a presentation on Chinese New Year and specifically asked for me by name. The lesson plan I gave her was from off the top of my head.
In addition to my personal Facebook page, I have a Fan page for my blog. In it, I provide encouragement for homeschool moms among other things.
The following example shows how I fulfill a great need moms have for a professional to come alongside them and help them teach their children. I am also in the process of putting together an online course to answer the many questions I receive on a regular basis.
